What’s good Miz? Let the readers know a little bit about your
‘RLC’ movement. Well, the RLC stands for “Real Life Click”
which basically depicts the type of music we make. We try to make
music that evrerybody can really relate to on a personal level. We
are a collective of solo artists that just make music together and
support eachother. We been through a few rotation changes but I
think we got the final lineup now which is Me (Miz), AngP, Fred
Diezil, Basko, Uncommon and our producer from New Jersey, Nemisis.
You seemed to bounce around as a young rapper trying to get
his roots in the hip hop soil, what was the hip hop climate change
like while moving from Jersey to Washington State and how have the
different experiences shaped your style as an artist? In
New Jersey there is a really strong hip-hop scene, but that also
leads to there being a million rappers on every block, lol, so
sometimes it’s hard to standout in that type of situation. So that
means you have to be really nice to get your respect. Washington on
the other hand has a smaller hip-hop scene which makes it easier to
standout to a certain degree. But it also makes it a little harder
to get noticed by people not from the region, but that’s starting
to change a bit in the past couple years. Washington is starting to
make some noise out there. As far as being an artist it hasn’t
really changed me. The only thing that has changed me is time to
grow as an artist and hip-hop in general changing, you gotta keep
up with the times.
Let’s talk about your affiliation with
Coast 2 Coast, how did that come about and what’s the working
relationship done for your career? Oh man I can’t even
begin to explain how much Coast2Coast has helped me. I’ve actually
known Lil Fats for about 4 years and it started out with me just
doing a track with him on his mixtape. After that our relationship
kept growing and once Coast2Coast came about it was just a natural
fit for us to work together. But Coast2Coast has helped me
incredibly. I might not be even doing this interview if it weren’t
for Coast2Coast, lol.
You dropped ‘Real Life’ Vol 1 and 2
thus far, working on Vol 3, what’s the overall format and what type
of topics are you portraying within the series? Well when
we do the Real Life projects there are more voices to be heard than
just mine so going in we never really have a certain topic or
format to run with. We just try to make the best music possible and
put it out. I think we’ve done ok with that so far.
You also
did an album with your producer Nemesis called ‘Prelude’, what’s
the concept behind the album and how does it differ from the
mixtape content? The concept behind the album was the
basically the title, “The Prelude”. It is the pelude to whats about
to come. We haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of what we
are about to do. It’s not really much of a difference from the
mixtape to the album. I always try to put my best foot forward on
everything I do.
What’s your creative approach like in the
studio? I’m a writing machine so when I’m in the studio
it’s like fun time for me, lol. I always have new material written
so when I’m in the studio it’s pretty much whatever. I either have
a ton of material ready to go, or I can knock something out right
there on the spot which is actually my preference because that’s
when you get the best energy.
As an artist attempting to make
a name in the game, what are some of the things you are doing to
stand out in a saturated market? The game is so different
now than it was when I was growing up. I’m not sure anyone really
has an answer to what’s the right thing to do now so I’m just
trying to do any and everything I can and see what sticks. I can’t
afford to cut off any paths because you never know what can happen.
What is next on the agenda for Miz? Well up next we
got Real Life Vol.3 which is a double release. The first disc is me
and AngP. The second disc is Fred Diezil and Basko. After that is
the official Real Life Click Compilation. And of course as many
features as I can squeeze in.
Where can we find you online?
